Safeguarding your valuable laptop becomes the priority from the moment you purchase it. Prevention is always better than the cure. So the smart thing is always to avoid the damages than paying huge repairing costs. Besides, laptops are not exactly cheap, and repairing or replacing laptop parts is not inexpensive either. So, it is always better to maintain your laptop and take adequate measures to ensure your laptop comes to no harm. So, here we give you some tips on how to safeguard your laptop.
1. Power fluctuations and lightning thunderstorms:
When there are power fluctuations, you should always unplug the computer from the socket. You could use power surges in case this is common in your region. These surgeries take in the fluctuations for themselves and safeguard your laptop. You should also unplug your laptop in the event of thunderstorm lightning since this will damage the circuits in the notebook. Make sure you insulate yourself while unplugging the laptop in nasty situations. You don’t want to get a shock yourself in your bid to save your computer!
2. Liquid spills:
It is a very awkward experience when some liquid like water, tea or juice gets spilled on your computer. It is better not to get liquids near the laptop to avoid such situations. But, in case it happens, first unplug your laptop. Tilt the keyboard to get the excess liquid out. Wipe the keyboard with a lint-free cloth. Use cotton buds to suck the liquid remaining in between the keys. Open the laptop case and wipe the liquid that has seeped into it with a clean cloth. Preferably, wipe and rinse off any liquid with alcohol and then deionized or distilled water to avoid any residue sticking inside that can cause short circuits. Keep the laptop in an upright position so that air circulation is maximum. Maintain the machine dry for two days. Use a dehumidifier to improve the drying process. But, never use a hair dryer for this since it could cause some static problems. You could also use a vacuum cleaner for this purpose at low power to suck in the moisture content.
3. Dust and dirt:
Dust that enters into your laptop kills it silently in the long period. It heats up the internal parts, affects the performance of the system and brings down its lifespan. So, keep your laptop dust and dirt free. Do not eat while working on your notebook as crumbs of food can get in between the keys. Keep your animal friends away to avoid them accidentally damaging it and most importantly, keep your hands clean when you handle the laptop, as this will go a long way in the health of your computer.
4. Safeguard the monitor:
Make sure that you have not left your small earphones or pencil in between the monitor and the keyboard which will surely break the keys or damage your screen.
Be careful while handling your laptop. Carry it holding it from its base and not from its screen.
Hope these tips help you in preventing damage and taking care of your laptop.
